He talks about the possibility of a spirit world existing around ours just like researchers talk about any other science. It was never something he was one hundred percent positive of, but he always said that as soon as a scientist is unwaveringly positive that everything they believe is true, they are no longer a scientist. Those who are truly dedicated to science question everything. They don’t hold beliefs, they hold theories. They have ideas. They wonder.

Their friendship was built on the very concept of finding out what it really meant for a place to be haunted. They researched locations together. Listened to ghost stories and legends from locals. They went on ghost walks and guided tours, then eventually started on their own.

Most people made fun of them. Some people were fascinated by them. Will didn’t care either way. What mattered to him was coming up with every question he could possibly ask about the paranormal and supernatural, then going out and trying to collect the evidence needed to answer those questions. He truly wanted one of two things. To either find abundant, reliable facts and information he could write up into papers to be submitted to scientific journals that would sway the greater public toward the understanding that ghosts are real and what natural rules they operated by, or to go through every scientific channel he could come up with and test his theories to the fullest extent to come to the conclusion that what people think of as ghosts are actually something else of far more tangible, earthly composition.

He hesitated to ever say he would be proven right or wrong. Even if he found the most concrete evidence that had ever been collected in favor of ghosts being real, there would always be a shadow of doubt in the very back of his mind. And if all the evidence he gathered showed that the supernatural didn’t exist, he would accept it with a glimmer of denial and the quiet determination that maybe one day he would be the one to find the missing piece.

David was the one who figured out they could turn their investigations into something. He’s the one who realized that people, even the ones who made fun of them for chasing ghosts around, were intrigued by the idea of trying to contact the other world. He’s the one who
